Why Choose Us

The Dean and Cauvin Young People’s Trust was founded in 1733 to care for children and young people and has been long established in the City of Edinburgh.  We are committed to providing excellent care for young people who cannot live with their own families.

Dean and Cauvin Young Peoples’ Trust currently have two highly regarded residential units in Edinburgh and also provides a range of after-care services. We provide a range of supported residential placements and single supported tenancies to young people from the age of 15 onward.  Our care is based on early intervention and relationship building with young people and we continue this provision through our dedicated Through-care and Aftercare Service.

Our Foster Carers benefit from being part of a well-established organisation and will access support from our staff team as well as an extensive training programme.

Supporting a young person’s development into adulthood whilst catering for all their day to day needs is no small task so we ensure there is support and help at every stage.  We can offer:

  • Fees and allowances to make fostering financially viable.  You will be self-employed and need to pay tax and national insurance but there is a generous tax threshold. Check out our fees and allowances section for further information. Read more >
  • Access to experienced members of staff from the residential team with whom you can discuss the young person’s needs and progress.
  • Access to and support from other Foster Carers. Read more >
  • Training and personal development. Read more >
